Understand & Shift the Patterns Behind the way You Think, Feel, & Relate
“Why do I keep doing this?” “Why do I keep ending up in the same cycles?” “Why can’t I seem to respond differently even when I know better?” 😭
Does that sound like you?
You may notice patterns of anxiety, overthinking, emotional overwhelm, people-pleasing, or difficulty setting AND standing strong on your boundaries. Maybe you tend to overanalyze every interaction, worry about what someone meant by their text or tone, or care way too much about whether or not someone is upset with you.
And when you’re overwhelmed, perhaps you blow up, shut down, pull away, or say things you probably shouldn’t say, and then look off into the distance thinking “did I do that?” - urkel voice
Well guess what?
That just means your nervous system has entered the chat and you are probably operating on autopilot, falling back on patterns that once helped you feel safe, connected, in control, or protected.
Good news?
You’re not doomed to keep doing this.
When you understand what’s happening underneath the patterns, you can start creating a different response instead of automatically reacting from the same old playbook.
Welcome to Aurora Love Counseling
ATL Anxiety Therapy
You don’t have to figure out your how to shift your patterns alone.
Did you know?
A HUGE amount of what we think, feel, and do happens outside of our conscious awareness (they say about 95-97%).
Which is kind of wild when you think about it.
Because, consciously, you can tell yourself, “okay, I’m going to stop overthinking. I’m going to set boundaries. I’m not going to give in this time. I’m going to respond differently…”
… and then somehow find yourself doing the exact same thing again…
That doesn't mean you're lacking discipline, self-awareness, or willpower.
It means that knowing something consciously and changing an automatic pattern are two different things.
Your conscious mind cannot outwill your subconscious. It can know what you want to do while your deeper automatic, subconscious patterns are still running the show.
And those patterns didn't just appear out of nowhere.
They were learned.
Which means…
They can be unlearned.
But what happens when those patterns get activated?
Attachment behaviors are often anxiety-management strategies.
The anxious brain starts scanning.
Are they upset with me?
Did I say something wrong?
Why haven't they texted back?
What if something goes wrong?
What if they leave?
Why bother?
What if I make the wrong decision?
Sometimes anxiety tells you to check, fix, explain, reassure, or get closer.
And sometimes it tells you to shut it down, detach, minimize it, or convince yourself you don't care.
Your anxiety isn't necessarily random or irrational.
It is oftentimes your brain trying to protect you based on what it has learned to expect.
And that's why I don't want to just teach you how to make the anxiety disappear.
I want us to understand what your anxiety is responding to in the first place.
And what’s my favorite way to understand this kind of anxiety?
You guessed it!
(or maybe you didn’t 😅)…
Attachment Theory
I am a little obsessed.
Because attachment theory gives us a really useful way to understand the patterns underneath the patterns.
How we learned to navigate closeness, rejection, conflict, safety, trust, and connection; and why those lessons can continue influencing the way we think, feel, and relate today.
Maybe closeness feels amazing until you sense someone pulling away.
Maybe you learned to work really hard to keep people happy.
Maybe conflict makes you want to disappear.
Maybe you become hyper-aware of other people's emotions while losing track of your own.
Maybe you want connection but also find yourself pulling away when things feel too vulnerable.
These patterns can show up in romantic relationships, friendships, family, work, and even in the relationship you have with yourself.
And here's the important part:
We don't have to shame these patterns or fight against them.
We can get curious about them.
We can understand where they came from, what they are trying to accomplish, and how they may be affecting your life now.
Because the goal isn't to become a completely different person.
It's to have more choice in how you respond.

Coaching Services
For when you know what you want to change and want help actually doing it.
Coaching is for people who want structured, action-oriented support around dating, relationships, boundaries, communication, and personal growth.
Maybe you understand your patterns. Maybe you've read the books, listened to the podcasts, and can pretty much diagnose your own attachment style. 😂
But knowing what you're doing doesn't always make it easy to do something different.
That's where coaching comes in.
Attachment-based coaching is available through individual sessions or a 12-week structured program focused on turning insight into real-world behavior change.
Coaching may be a good fit if you want support with:
Navigating dating and relationship patterns in real time
Figuring out what to say, what to do, and how to respond
Practicing boundaries without immediately second-guessing yourself
Communicating more clearly and confidently
Recognizing attachment-based behaviors as they're happening
Breaking cycles of overthinking, chasing, withdrawing, or people-pleasing
Building confidence, clarity, and self-trust
Turning what you understand intellectually into something you can actually practice
Coaching is future-focused, skills-based, and action-oriented. It does not include diagnosis or clinical treatment of mental health conditions.
